Originally from California, Ashu began playing the saxophone at age 10. His recital debut took place at Carnegie Hall and his concerto debut was held at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Since then, Ashu’s charismatic and emotive style has taken him around the world, attracting younger audiences to classical music with his unique concert saxophone performances. Ashu has taken top honors at major competitions traditionally won by pianists and violinists, such as the prestigious Audience Award at the International Musical Olympus Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. Ashu graduated from Northwestern University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s of music degrees.
