Chamber ensemble

Founded in 1983 by members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Scharoun Ensemble is one of Germany’s leading chamber-music organizations. With its repertoire ranging from Baroque period chamber music to contemporary works, the group aims to bridge the gap between the traditional and the modern. The permanent core of the Scharoun Ensemble is a classical octet (clarinet, bassoon, horn, two violins, viola, cello and double bass), and in addition to an active international concert presence, it holds an annual residence and artistic directorship at the Zermatt Festival in Switzerland.
